- Chronicles from a Pirate's Wench
- Yo Ho, me Hearties... This is a tale of the adventures of a group of modern day Intercoastal Pirates. Not the marauding or pillaging kind, mind you, but a band of musical skaliwags that go from town to town along the Gulf Coast looking for fun and adventure. I came to be in the company of this motley crew when I was bewitched by the First Mate's serenading some years ago. He began to keep company with these Intercoastal Pirates some time after that, and before I knew it, he was a full-fledged Pirate himself. Not that I mind it... a little swashbuckling never hurt anyone! It will be my duty to chronicle their adventures, journeys to distant waters, and all the fun along the way.

So, what exactly is a Powder Monkey?
Recently, the fine folks at Blogspot added something we thought might be of some use to those wanting to keep up with the Pirates and their pillaging. So, the band assigned the duty of blog follower helper to the loving wench of the first mate... oh... that would be me!
So, the quest began. We want to know who you are and see your smiling mug on our web page. And now we can! If you look on the left side of this page, you'll see a place you can click to become a Powder Monkey!
What is a Powder Monkey, you ask?
Well, on a Pirate ship, there are many things. One of the handiest, when you're wanting to relieve someone of their hard-earned goods, is a cannon. The Powder Monkey is a gunner's assistant, or the one that keeps the cannon firing! What better way to describe the Intercoastal Pirates fans? You keep us fired up!
So climb abourd, dive in, or do whatever you do... just join!

Kim Shelton Benefit on deck!
The Intercoastal Pirates aren't able to do a lot of benefits, with Pirating being such a hard thing to schedule around. Occasionally, we'll find something we really believe in or a certain situation where we just have to turn rudder and haul the ship to shore to help out in our own decibel-heavy way!
Such a case is the Kim Shelton Benefit for One Vision that will be held at Clute Park on March 7th, 2009. As we have all grown older, it is a fact of life that we will see hard times and illness take its toll on friends and family. When difficulty comes to call, he often brings a heavy financial burden with him. Kim and her family have been struggling through these burdens, and could use some friendly support. This benefit will provide some of that financial support, as well as the kind of reinforcement only the hand of a friend can provide.
We hope you'll come out and join us in supporting Kim, her family, and all those who are standing with her throughout this long battle. We know that each one of them will be encouraged to see you there. Bring your wallet, spend freely, and be a Pirate for a day!
